Q. So all of a sudden I had this strange malware/virus called Windows XP Fix.
And I can't seem to get rid off it.
I'm in Safe Mode now and that's the only thing working at the moment!
Anybody had the same problem?
If yes, please tell me to delete it without reinstalling Windows XP again.

Put in the CD
at the first option Press R to Repair Windows
choose the correct drive to fix (usually 1)
enter your password (if you don't use one press Enter)
type chkdsk /r and press Enter

when finished type exit and press Enter
hopefully it will boot properly

How do you restore the default visual settings on a windows xp computer?

Q. My windows xp home computer recently had odd visual settings that i tried to fix. Instead of fixing the problem, i think i made it worse. Now it only shows the middle of my desktop background, now mouse cursor. Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesnt work i.e. nothing shows up. Q. Recently, my brother attempted to install Windows XP on my old laptop. Unfortunately, he 'skipped' parts of the installation and now XP will not setup. Is there any way I can reinstall XP properly or fix this problem without pulling money out of my wallet?

How do I fix an active partition boot problem in Windows XP?

Q. I have an HP laptop with Windows XP on it. I went into the "Disk Management" menu to assign a letter to a drive, and it made an active partition on my hard drive (I didn't select this). Now when I try to start the computer, Windows won't boot. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Do I need to use a Windows XP boot CD, or is there another way to fix this? Thank you!

A. You can use a Windows XP CD as others have posted, or you can use Ubuntu. Download Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit:

Set the boot flag to your windows partition. Your windows partition should be labeled sda1 if you only have one partition and one hard disk. If you have more than one partition, you'll have to select the right one. You can tell usually based on how big the partition is. For example, you remember your C:\ drive was 60GB, so you know the partition that is your C:\ drive should be around 60GB. Right click on the partition you want to set active, go to "Manage Flags", check "Boot", and hit Apply (the green checkmark):

Q. I did not think/know that i had to use safe mode to make a password on Administrator and I need help on how to get into my windows xp. Do i use F2 to fix the settings back to the way it was before i put on password or what do i do? Please, this is an emergency!!

How can I delete Windows XP Fix virus?

Q. So all of a sudden I had this strange malware/virus called Windows XP Fix.

How do i fix corrupted windows xp service pack 3 files after a virus screwed them up?

Q. Several Windows XP SP3 files have been corrupted after a virus attack on my computer and need to be fixed, how do I fix them? The system is prompting me for a location of those files. What do I do from here?

A. The best option is to open your Control Panel, and then uninstall Service Pack 3. Be patient .. it may take up to 10 minutes to be removed, as it's quite a large file. Then, reboot your Computer, and then go to "Microsoft Update", and run a Custom search for updates. Windows XP Service Pack 3 should be the first update offered. Download and install it, and then reboot your Computer. As with any changes to your Computer, always create a System Restore point first, in case something goes wrong. If your Service Pack 3 won't uninstall for any reason, you could Download Service Pack 3 from the "Microsoft Downoad Center", and manually re-install it over the top of the corrupted file. That should fix your problem. Please re-post if you have any problems. Good luck !
